Biographical note | Masako Ishida (b. 1931) was working as a student-laborer at the Mitsubishi Arms factory in Nagasaki, Japan, on August 9, 1945, when the atomic bomb was dropped. She survived the blast and subsequent radiation sickness. After the Second World War she entered Ngasaki Woman's College to study English Literature. |
