Biographical noteEarl Arthur Luehman was born in 1918 and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1941. He was subsequently stationed aboard the USS Helena as a turret officer, saw action in Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal, and later served as a Naval Operations officer.
