Scope and content The collection includes papers (1897-1945) of Junius Daniel Grimes, a prominent Washington, NC attorney, who was member of the firm War and Grimes, and his family and business associates, including correspondence, legal records, land records, financial papers, publications, taxes, installments, bills, survey, map, etc. The general correspondence deals with a variety of topics and prominent among them is politics. Grimes was a member of the Vestry of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Washington, NC, and church activities are often mentioned in correspondence.
