This collection contains genealogical histories of the Loftin and Carr families of North Carolina and neighboring states. The Loftin genealogical history gives information on the background of the Loftin name and genealogy of the family from Leonard Loftin's arrival circa 1688 in Chowan County, N.C., to twentieth century families living throughout the South. Other connected families included are Rountree, Cox, La Roque, Sutton, Miller, Parker and Becton. The history of the Carr family of Duplin County, N.C., traces the descendants of Joseph Carr of Ireland, who settled in Duplin County circa 1748, to twentieth century families living in the area. Families mentioned include Garrison, Turner, Southerland, Newton, Boney, and Pearsall. |
