Summary	The purpose of this thesis is to assess the social, political, and economic impact of World War II on Onslow County, North Carolina's. This paper focuses on the significance of World War II for women and African Americans. Chapter one addresses the displacement of individuals after the Navy and War Departments took their land for military use. Chapter two assesses the immediate economic and social effects of the war on the small county of Onslow. Chapter three considers the impact of war on local women. Chapter four weighs the importance of the war on African Americans in Onslow, marines and natives.
