Quarter-master-general's-office, Newport, the 23d May 1778 : Advertisement. The inhabitants of the townships of Newport, Middletown and Portsmouth, and on the island of Conanicut, are desired to come to this office, between the 24th May and 1st June, to settle ... whatever charges and demands they may have against the army, for carting, &c.
