Abstract This book is a collection of 15 old favorite songs that fall into several different categories. Some songs are simply singalongs. These allow children the opportunity to practice their language skills through singing. Other songs fall under the category of cumulative. These help students develop their memory skills and can be used to practice sequencing skills. Some songs include hande motions. The motions are not related to the lyrics (as in fingerplays) and are great for developing coordination skills. A couple songs involve movement and allow the opportunity to work on concepts such as counting and directions. Music for all of the songs is included, as well as lyrics, guitar chords, and movements. Also provided are easy guidelines on how to teach the song for maximum effectiveness and additional ideas to help expand the concept.
