| Abstract | "There is a growing recognition about the existence of microplastics in several environmental domains, including oceans, terrestrial areas, and the atmosphere. Moreover, the detrimental impacts of these microplastics on ecosystems, wildlife, and human beings are becoming more well recognized. Microplastics can be introduced into the environment by direct release or as a consequence of the breakdown of bigger plastic objects. The use and laundering of synthetic (polymeric) textile materials are acknowledged as a significant contributor to the presence of microplastics in the natural surroundings. Textiles are prominent value chains under the European Union's circular economy action plan. Consequently, this book presents noteworthy information pertaining to microplastics or microfibers derived from textile sources, as well as mitigation strategies that benefit both the public and researchers. Moreover, it provides important insights for industry professionals, aiding them in modifying their process sequences.
