| Abstract | "The main focus of chapter one is on the use of solar energy for the mentioned purposes. In this regard, some of the most conventional technologies used for heating, cooling, and desalination are introduced and their working principles are discussed. Chapter Two, solar energy-based systems for power generation are introduced and explained. As mentioned, there are two major technologies for power generation by solar systems, including PV cells and solar thermal systems; each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. In the following sections, the working mechanisms of these systems, their key features, and the influential factors on the performance are provided and discussed.
