Abstract "Reading has always been considered not only as one of the most challenging and difficult skills in learning a foreign language but also as language input for other skills to develop. Due to the complexity of this skill, a vital aspect of literacy development in a foreign language is learning how to comprehend written texts efficiently. To address this issue, the present work deals with the notion of reading comprehension process and reading strategies, reconciling old and new theories concerning the use of reading comprehension strategies by trilingual learners. More specifically, it aims at presenting the current state of knowledge on the process of foreign language learning and teaching of trilinguals in the area of reading comprehension as well as the factors which affect this process"-- Provided by publisher.
