| Abstract | "The Mekong: History, Geology and Environmental Issues first emphasizes how indigenous ecological views are affected by the rise of materialism, further investigating the discursive responses of the masses together with their fading ecology. The authors point out the potential threats of using MekD surface water of uncontrolled quality. Efficient economical water treatment technologies are identified for the provision of water of appropriate quality to rural households. Through the analysis of shrimp farmers' production process, one study argues that due to an unstable production environment, farmers in the Mekong Delta have always displayed risk mitigation as a rational response to the production setting. The concluding study aims to estimate the environmental efficiency of transformed shrimp farming through interviews with 90 farmers who recently shifted from sugarcane cultivation to mono-shrimp culture in Cu Lao Dung district, Soc Trang province"-- Provided by publisher. |
