Abstract "Magnetic fluids, also called ferrofluids, are quite exciting and technologically contemporary material. It is a multidisciplinary area of research which encompasses nearly all branches of science and technology. This book is a compilation of dedicated chapters from eminent researchers working in various aspects of ferrofluids. It will be a guiding tool for the budding researchers which will enhance synergy among the researchers working in different aspects of ferrofluid to explore magnetically responsive new materials. This book contains 14 chapters on the materials aspect of magnetic fluid. It features the latest research findings related to various aspects of ferrofluids. It encompasses chapters on magnetic fluids applications, their chemical, physical, structural, magnetic, rheological, fluid dynamic, thermal, heat, and mass transfer properties. It also describes the biomedical applications, composites, magneto-optical effects, self-assembly, ferro fibres, low-temperature physics of ferrofluids, etc. All these have been discussed in separate chapters by various experts in the field. The topics have been lucidly explained and the frontiers of the field has been discussed in detail mentioning the challenges and possible way out"-- Provided by publisher.
