| Abstract | "This volume collects the results of various research experiences on Italian and Italo-Romance varieties used as heritage languages, from different fields of linguistics, and in different parts of the world (Americas, Australia, Europe). This leads to a significant update in the current state of the art that benefits from new studies on relatively well-known communities, as well as preliminary studies on lesser known communities and linguistic phenomena. A key feature of the book is the search for a shared framework for the study of Italo-Romance heritage language communities, and namely one that is able to jointly consider the various types of linguistic resources that are found in these settings. Thus, in-depth studies on heritage Romance dialects are included along with others that focus on more complex repertoires, as is the case with communities where both Italian and dialect are spoken, and with onward migrants in Berlin and London"-- Provided by publisher. |
