Abstract "In contrast to other traditional commentaries on early Chinese classics, The Great Commentary to the Documents Classic (Shangshu dazhuan), traditionally ascribed to Master Fu (260?-161? BCE) and to the late Eastern Han exegete Zheng Xuan (127-200), has received little scholarly attention. The "mother text," the Shangshu (also known as the Shujing), one of China's core Five Classics, consists of documentary records of the earliest dynasties. The text of this important commentary on the Documents has been reconstructed largely from fragments preserved in collectanea dating to the Song period (960-1279)"-- Provided by publisher.
