| Abstract | "There has been unprecedented advancement in information technology in the last two decades. In particular, Internet connectivity and Internet usage have seen huge growth. According to recent statistics, there are 5.18 Billion Internet users worldwide, which is close to 65% of the global population. In addition, social media users are close to 4.8 billion. One of the critical infrastructures that embraced Internet-based products is healthcare. Since the number of healthcare service seekers across the world is growing at a rapid pace, service providers rely on the Internet-connected ecosystem, which is also known as the critical health infrastructure, Internet of Health Things (IoHT) or Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). The importance of IoHT has been well experienced during the covid-19 pandemic. The advancement of technology is a double-edged sword. While we enjoy the benefits, people with malicious intent exploit these technological advances. Since the majority of the worldwide population is connected to the Internet, criminals are now interested in launching cybercrime more than ever. As per recent statistics, cybercrime costs are projected to hit an annual $10.5 trillion by 2025. However, the healthcare sector is one of the prime targets as it yields the best possible return on investment for criminals. Since healthcare services have the most private data and lives are at stake if the critical health infrastructure provider falls victim to a successful cyber incident. According to Microsoft Digital Defense Report 2022, the healthcare sector ranked second in the top targeted sectors by cybercriminals. There has been a massive surge in cyber-attacks, especially in healthcare, and newer variants are emerging. Therefore, it is imperative to rethink the cybersecurity readiness for smart healthcare in today's age. In this context, this book will address the challenges associated with ransomware, which will provide a bigger picture of the evolution, trends, techniques, impact on critical infrastructures, national security, countermeasures, and open research directions in this area.
