The book discusses Lewis-Skyrms signalling games then proceeds to hierarchical, dialogue, and network games. The games illustrate how simple trial-and-error learners may coevolve meaningful language use and inferential capacities, how social structures may emerge that allow for more reliable learning as they interact, and how they may learn how to learn in more sophisticated ways. The book considers how self-assembling games can be used to explain animal and human behaviour.
