| Abstract | "This volume is the first collection of essays fully devoted to examining the conceptual and methodological relations and tensions between analytic philosophy and the embodied-embedded approach to cognitive science, or 'e-cognition'. After an introduction by the editor placing the topic in philosophical context, the contributors explore topics that cut across both analytic philosophy and 4e-cognition, including skillful coping, habits, the status of representations, the nature of consciousness or the role of communication and sociopolitical implications of these views, considering at the same time how different theories within both traditions apply them, such as ecological psychology, teleosemantics, enactivism, cognitivism, the Pittsburgh School, and intentional realism. Analytic Philosophy and 4E-Cognition. Conceptual Analysis, Embodiment and Situatedness will be of interest to upper level students and scholars in the areas of analytic philosophy, philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology and particularly those studying cognitive science from an embodied and situated cognition. Manuel Heras-Escribano is Ramo¿¿n y Cajal Research Fellow in Philosophy at the University of Granada, Spain"-- Provided by publisher. |
