Abstract "Political Theology Reimagined surveys the contemporary state of the field to reveal the theoretically surprising ways that political theology has shifted in recent years, away from Christianity and the white Western philosophers that dominated the field for so long, and towards a consideration of the complex entanglements of liberation, religion, secularity, and power. Preferring to call political theology a method rather than a field, editors Alexander Dubilet and Vincent W. Lloyd contend that bringing together decolonial, feminist, Indigenous, and Black perspectives with classical moments of European thought opens up a vast terrain to critique secular modernity's imbrication with theology. Across the volume's diverse essays-from postcolonial Islam to Black study and freedom to the affective politics of Christian nationalism-Political Theology Reimagined crucially reconfigures the key questions of political theology, rendering them useful tools to understand the legacies of colonial capitalist modernity in the present"-- Provided by publisher.
