| Abstract | Louise Farrenc was a highly regarded composer, pianist, and teacher at the Paris Conservatoire for 30 years. She famously demanded, and received, equal pay to her male colleagues at the Conservatoire. Her notable works include three symphonies and the Nonet. After her daughter's death in 1859, she stopped composing and focused on editing Le třsor des pianistes. This book provides a comprehensive look at Farrenc's life as a composer of symphonies and chamber music, and her role as a professor at the Paris Conservatoire. |
