Scope and content Twenty-one digital images captured by Mark Hassell Smith documenting the response by firefighters to the Greenville Cannon warehouse fire on January 13, 1983. The Cannon warehouse building was located at 2113 Dickinson Avenue and took up a city block bordered on its north side by Dickinson Avenue, west side by Truman Street, and South side by May Street. The original photographs were taken by Smith stood at that corner of May and Truman Streets and along May Street, using a Pentax ME Super 35 mm on Kodachrome 64 slides. The Greenville Fire Department trucks in the photographs can be seen parked on May Street. Also present in the photographs are onlookers, a Channel 11 television news helicopter, and individual fire fighters and rescue personnel.
