Abstract | Correspondence, newspapers, ledger, pamphlet, certificates, speeches, and other miscellaneous items. The bulk of the correspondence is personal and business letters relating to Crawford. Newspapers include the State Chronicle (Raleigh, N.C., Dec. 29, 1892), the North Carolina Christian Advocate (Oct. 16, 1895), and the Ram's Horn (Chicago, Ill., Feb. 7, 1897). Of particular interest is the office ledger of Dr. E. H. Hornaby covering the years 1891-1892. Entries are by patient, showing fees charged and often the illness treated. The collection also includes an 1884 pamphlet of instructions for medical examiners of the insurance department of the American Legion of Honor, routine testimonial speeches, poetry, and assorted financial papers. |
