| Abstract | "'Double time rock' is a book designed for all instruments. When you practice the bracketed patterns in this book, play the first part in a slow tempo and then double time the second part. Keep repeating the patterns over and over until they feel comfortable. It is most important that you beat your foot at the same rate of speed through both parts of the pattern. Use a metronome if you have one. I have written the count above the notes to help you understand the value of the notes to the foot beat. Understanding the value of the notes, or groups of notes to your foot beat or metronome time, is the key to learning to read and phrase music. For more practice on reading and phrasing, try repeating the first part of the bracketed pattern for 4, 8, 12 and 16 measures. Use the same procedure for the double time pattern. When you have done all this, try playing the first part of the bracketed pattern playing one pattern in to the next without any repeats down each page. This will greatly enhance your reading and phrasing ability."--Page 1. |
