520 3 a| The Deadman Gulch drape fold, located on the western slope of the Sawatch Range, central Colorado, is a Laramide (Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiary) monoclinal flexure involving Proterozoic basement and Paleozoic strata. Burial depths of 5-7 kms allowed the Lower Paleozoic strata to act ductily. The study area is on the northeastern edge of a major fault block. The basement thrust fault (forcing member) is not exposed. The drape fold is well exposed along Spring Creek canyon. The southeast end of the drape fold is hidden beneath Lower Paleozoic strata. An oblique/tear fault is located on the northwest end of the drape fold. Offset of the tear fault cannot be measured due to limitations of Paleozoic outcrops. However, Pennsylvanian strata lie against Cambrian strata, establishing a minimum offset. Deep hydrothermal waters moving along basement faults dissolved the Leadville Limestone, Chaffee Limestone and Ordovician units locally. A jasperoid unit was deposited along these fault conduits (and laterally) as a void filling deposit and replacement mineral.;
