| Abstract | "The third edition of this book is very timely post COVID-19 pandemic, as we have updated all chapters and added some new chapter topics such as managing outpatient microsystems (which, along with the existing acute care chapter, help DNPs to budget along the continuum), building the CNO/CFO relationship, integrating technology, informatics, artificial intelligence, and Big Data in the nurse executive's healthcare finance role, and quantifying the value of academic-practice partnerships. Hospitals and health systems have had to pivot drastically as the world changed. Most hospitals lost a significant amount of revenue during the pandemic and most operating margins were under 0%. Labor costs increased and the sicker patients required more resources. These changes impacted the "bottom line" in healthcare and now, more than ever, nurse leaders and in particular nurse leaders with a DNP degree are needed to help manage costs"-- Provided by publisher. |
