Abstract An overview of a project undertaken by the San Diego State University Center on Aging with funding from the Administration on Aging, Department of Health and Human Services to develop a program entitled "Utilizing group percussion strategies for promoting volunteerism in the well older adult." The project goal was the training of older adults to become recreational group percussion leaders under the supervision of a music therapist.
