Summary Logbook kept on board the bark HECLA of (Sippican) Marion, Massachusetts, Benjamin J Crapo, master, for a whaling voyage to the Atlantic, Indian and South Pacific Ocean whaling grounds. Details problems with 2nd mate, who eventually left the ship. Also mentions punishment of 12 lashes for desertion of crew member. Boatsteerer had female stowaway aboard. HECLA made 25 ports-of-call and spoke 39 vessels. Log contains whale stamps.
