Summary Typescript of a diary kept by George Brown of Hallowell, Me. on a journey from Maine to San Francisco to join in the California gold rush, 23 February - 28 June 1850. He sailed from Philadelphia in the ship THOMAS WATTSON and most of the diary was kept aboard ship. Includes many religious observations. Brown was probably the brother-in-law of Joseph B. Thomas, the ship's captain.
