Summary Annotation The proceedings focuses on both the theory and the practice on software reliability engineering. The scope of this year's conference includes techniques and practices to verify and validate software, estimate and predict its reliability, and to make it more tolerant/robust to faults. Because of the increasing importance and prevalence of mobile devices and applications in society today, the overall theme of this year's conference is "Developing High Reliability for Ubiquitous Mobile Applications." Engineering reliable software for this class of applications raises many interesting challenges and issues that do not exist in other kinds of applications. ISSRE 2005 includes 32 papers covering a broad spectrum of topics in both mobile and non-mobile applications including software reliability, vulnerability, dependability, testing, requirements, safety analysis, defect prediction, and quality assurance.
