Abstract |
Discusses the author's research into skeletons belonging to a small-statured early human species discovered in 2003 on the remote Indonesian island of Flores, and stories from the inhabitants of Flores about half-apelike, half-humanlike creatures that lived on a nearby volcano, and the possibility that a primitive species of human had survived into recent times and co-existed with modern humans. |
