Biographical noteGay Wilentz's earned a Ph.D. in African, African-American, and Caribbean Literature at the University of Texas in 1986. She taught at Bo Teachers College in Sierra Leone, Anson Technical College, The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Belize, The University of Nigeria, and East Carolina University. Wilentz passed away in 2004 from Adams-Oliver Syndrome.
