General note | "Translator's note: Ikkyū Zenshi Shoshoku Monogatari (Zen Monk Ikkyū's "Tales of Amorous Experiences"). The work, written about 1845, consists of travesties on the popular anecdotes relating to the life of Ikkyū (1394-1481). Ikkyū's extraordinary, often humorous conduct during his mission gave, it seems, inspiration to the author of these pornographic stories. About the author of this work nothing can be found. 'Azama Otoko,' the name which appears with each volume, is the pseudonym of an unknown writer." |
