| Biographical note | Robert Herring Wright (1870-1934), an eastern North Carolina native, was the first President of East Carolina Teachers Training School. During his 25 years as President, Wright shaped the newly founded East Carolina and provided a foundation for what the college would become as it continued to grow. |
