Summary Annotation The Cayman Islands consist of three main islands: Grand Cayman, on which is situated the capital of George Town; Little Cayman; and Cayman Brac. The islands were discovered by Columbus in 1503 and were brought under British rule by the Treaty of Madrid in 1670. The Cayman Islands are chiefly noted for being the world's largest offshore financial centre. There are nearly 30,000 companies, more than 500 banks and trust companies and approximately 350 insurance companies registered in the Caymans. This is the first single, annotated, multidisciplinary bibliography devoted to the Cayman Islands.
