| Abstract | Curator and lecturer Carolyn Armenta Davis was born in Gary, Indiana, to Armenta and Richard Davis, Sr. She attended Froebel Public School, in Gary, Indiana, from kindergarten until her graduation from high school in 1962. Davis received her B.A. degree in mathematics from Indiana University in 1970. After working as a teacher, an association executive, and a television news writer, Davis started her own communications business in 1974. Davis created and produced three Black Diaspora landmark projects: the 1976-77 Black Classical Composers radio series; the 1978 award-winning Feminine Footprint syndicated radio series on sixty-five African American women trailblazers; and 1990-2000 exhibition-lecture project, Design Diaspora: Black Architects and International Architecture 1970-1990™ on fifty contemporary African American, Black-European and African men and women architects from eleven countries. The latter project toured in twenty venues in eight countries in the Americas, Europe and Africa. She is a member of the Society of Architectural Historians. |
