Abstract Investment executive Herb Wilkins was born on January 9, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. After receiving his B.A. degree from Boston University in 1965, he attended and graduated from the Harvard School of Business in 1970. Wilkins began his career in finance and operated his own consulting company. In 1977, he took over as president of Syndicated Communications and in 1990 became managing general partner of Syncom Capital, a company that invested in communication companies that reached the inner city. Wilkins later became the president of Syncom Management Company. His long-term investments in Black Entertainment Television (BET) and Radio One made him and Syncom very successful after the companies' stock went public. Wilkins was honored many times for his commitment to minority businesses in the communication industry. Wilkins passed away on December 3, 2013.
