520 a| Disc jockey Moses "Lucky" Cordell, "The Baron of Bounce," was born on July 28, 1928, in Grenada, Mississippi and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Dunbar Technical High School in 1946, then served two years in the U. S. Army. Cordell began his long career in broadcasting at WGES in Chicago in 1952. His next job was at WGRY in Gary, Indiana, where he was a DJ and the host of "House of Hits", a popular show that included audience participation. In the following years, Cordell worked for several radio stations in the Chicago area before being hired as a disc jockey at WVON in Chicago. Cordell was promoted to program and music director for WVON in 1965. In 1968, he was promoted to assistant general manager. After a change in station ownership in the late 1970s, Cordell became general manager. Cordell passed away on September 6, 2015 at age 87.;
