520 a| Entrepreneur and police chief Lessly "Count" Fisher was born on August 19, 1923, in Canton, Mississippi. Fisher graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago, Indiana, in 1941. He began his entertainment career playing drums for the Nightsteppers, which included childhood friend, Jack McDuff. Fisher married Eve Rene and established Indianapolis' Carousel Club in the late 1950s. Over the years, the club featured Rodney Dangerfield, Roy Hamilton, Freddie Hubbard, George Kirby, Redd Foxx, Moms Mabley, Jimmy McGriff, John Coltrane and James Brown. From 1963 to 1965, he and his wife operated a club called Chateau de Count et Eve near the Indiana State Capitol. In 1966, the Fishers moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and he began to work as a sheriff's deputy for Kent County, Michigan. Fisher was also Idlewild, Michigan's first chief of police. Fisher ended his career as Deputy Sheriff of Lake County, Michigan and later passed away on November 22, 2015.;
