520 a| Broadcast journalist Kojo Nnamdi was born Rex Orville Montague Paul on January 8, 1945 in Guyana. He emigrated to the United States in 1968, after a year attending McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Nnamdi first worked on Wall Street and joined the Black Panther Party in Brooklyn, New York. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 1969 and became part of an independent black educational program founded by former members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. In 1970, Nnamdi worked as editor of the radio show Sauti on WOL-AM. From 1973 to 1985, he worked at WHUR-FM where he was news editor and subsequently news director. From 1985 to 2011, Nnamdi hosted Evening Exchange, a public affairs television program broadcast by WHUT-TV. He became host of WAMU-FM's "The Kojo Nnamdi Show" in 1998 and served as host of The Politics Hour. He chaired the board of the Public Access Corporation of Washington, D.C. in 1997.;
