He also completed the financial management program at Columbia University School of Business. Brown began his career in 1977 at Equifax in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1988, he moved to Dun and Bradstreet Corporation where he became president and CEO of sales technology. IN 1998, he was appointed CEO of Strategic Technologies, a market research firm. In 2001, he joined the board of directors of Atlanta Life Financial Group and was appointed president and CEO in 2004. Brown was also chairman of Jackson Securities, an investment bank founded by late Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. Brown received the Rainbow PUSH Wall Street Project Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Business Advisor of the Year Award. Brown passed away on April 28, 2008 at age 54.;
