520 a| Film actress and tap dancer Jeni LeGon was born on August 14, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, LeGon attended Mary Bruce's School of Dance. At age thirteen, she joined the Count Basie Orchestra's chorus line and became a professional dancer. Dancing with the Whitman Sisters troupe in 1931, LeGon formed a tap duo with her half-sister and was discovered by Hollywood. Her twenty-four film credits include: Hooray for Love, Broadway Melody of 1936, This Was Paris, Fools for Scandal, Arabian Nights, Stormy Weather, Hi De Ho and Bright Road. She returned to the screen in 2001 with Snoop Dogg in Bones. In 1969, she opened her own dance studio in Vancouver, British Columbia. LeGon is the recipient of many awards. In 1999 the National Film Board of Canada released Grant Greshuk's prize-winning documentary, Jeni LeGon: Living in a Great Big Way. LeGon passed away on December 7, 2012 at age 96.;
