Abstract Printmaker, curator and artist Evangeline Juliet Montgomery was born on May 2, 1933 in New York City. In 1951, Montgomery graduated from Seward Park High School in New York City. After receiving her B.F.A. degree from California College of Arts and Crafts in 1969, she worked as an independent curator to museums, university galleries and art centers. Montgomery was well known as an artist, specializing in metal-work and lithography, with pieces including metal ancestral boxes and colorful lithographs. In 1983, she worked for the United States State Department as a program development officer specializing in American exhibitions touring abroad. Montgomery coordinated tours for over fifty exhibitions to major museums abroad featuring works of America's most noted painters, sculptors, printmakers, photographers, and crafts persons. In 1997, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease but did not let the diagnosis limit her artistic endeavors, switching from metal working to printmaking.
