After attending Rappahannock Industrial Academy, she attended Virginia State, where she completed high school in 1928 and college in 1933 with her B.S degree. In Franklin, Virginia she married Hayden High School principal Samuel Percell Morton and became area state supervisor for home economics as well as an officer in the Statewide Home Economics Association. She held lifetime memberships in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the NAACP. She was a member of Links, Inc., the Order of the Eastern Star and the National Council of Negro Women. Morton helped to form the Franklin Cooperative Ministry, The Cosmonettes, and Sesame Street Day Care. She was chairman of the Deacon Board of her church and served with numerous organizations. She passed away on February 7, 2004 at age 91.;
