520 a| Radio host Greg Mack was born on June 22, 1959 in Emory, Texas. He began his career in radio in 1975 during a school internship program at KTSA in San Antonio, Texas. Mack went on to gain experience at two additional stations in Texas before receiving an offer in 1983 to act as music director for KDAY in Los Angeles, California. At KDAY, Mack altered the station's format to include rap music. Using his position at KDAY, Mack promoted some of the most well-known and successful artists and DJs from the West Coast, including Dr. Dre and N.W.A. Mack and KDAY are credited as the first station in the United States to adopt the twenty-four hour rap format, legitimizing rap as a new genre. He later joined Stevie Wonder-owned KJLH, purchased several radio stations, and acted as a radio station consultant. Mack joined 94.7, the WAVE in 2013.;
