From 1980 until 1995, Lamb worked in various editorial capacities at the Toledo Blade, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the New York Times, Child Magazine, and Essence. She went on to serve as editor-in-chief, editorial director, and vice president at Black Entertainment Television, where she managed Heart & Soul and was founding editor of BET Weekend. Lamb was hired as a journalism faculty member at Howard University in 2001, where she also received her M.B.A. degree in management in 2005. Lamb co-founded Fully-Connected.com and FierceforBlackWomen.com, and has co-authored three books: The Spirit of African Design, Born to Win: The Authorized Biography of Althea Gibson, and Rise and Fly: Tall Tales and Mostly True Rules of Bid Whist.;
