Abstract Attorney Albert E. Dotson, Jr. was born on June 9, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Chicago, Atlanta, and Miami. In 1984, Dotson received his A. B. degree in economics and history from Dartmouth College. He earned his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1987. Dotson worked as an equity partner with the law firm of Bilzin, Sumberg, Baena, Price & Axelrod, LLP. He specialized in land use and zoning, and federal and local government procurement contracts and compliance. Dotson supported a number of civic organizations, including 100 Black Men of America. He became chairman of the organization in 2004. In March 2006, Dotson was elected president of The Orange Bowl Committee for the 2006-2007 Orange Bowl Festival and the FedEx Orange Bowl Game. In 2009, he was appointed to the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission, which selects finalists for presidential appointments to judgeships and similar positions.
