Abstract Corporate executive Raymond Haysbert was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 19, 1920. After serving with the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II, his wife, Carol, introduced him to Henry Parks. In 1952, Haysbert joined Parks Sausage, and with his help, the company's revenues increased. By 1974, Parks Sausage's profits were in the millions and Haysbert was its president. However, after a buyout from a larger company, profits started to dwindle. Haysbert and a few other employees worked to develop a plan to buy the company back and they did so successfully. By the 1980s, the corporate clients for Parks Sausage began to disappear with the health consciousness of the 1990s increasing. Parks Sausage declared bankruptcy. Haysbert remained active in promoting minority-owned businesses and was president of a family catering business, Forum Caterers. He was also active with the American Heart Association. Haysbert passed away on May 24, 2010 at age 90.
