520 a| Lawyer Lezli Baskerville was born on January 20, 1956 in Montclair, New Jersey. After graduating from Montclair High School, she obtained her B.A. degree from Douglas College in New Jersey. She graduated from Howard University School of Law in 1979. During the 1980s and 1990s, Baskerville served as counsel to the NAACP and to the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education. She also was the Executive Director of the National Black Round Table, a member of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law's national appellate litigation team, and a Washington, D.C. appeals judge. From 1989 to 1999, Baskerville managed The Baskerville Group, a successful private legal and legislative services collective. As vice president for the College Board from 1999 to 2003, Baskerville was chief executive officer of the board's Washington office, providing leadership to the board's government relations teams. In 2004, NAFEO named Baskerville its first female president.;
