Abstract Entertainment attorney, music executive and talent management executive Larkin Arnold was born on September 3, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1966, he graduated with his B.S. degree from American University before earning his J.D. degree in 1969 from Howard University School of Law. Arnold was one of the first African Americans attorneys to be hired by a major record label when he joined Capital Records in 1970. Four years later, Arnold was promoted to vice president, heading the Black Music Division. From 1978 to 1980, Arnold was hired by Arista Records as senior vice president and head of the West Coast office. In 1980, Arnold joined CBS/Sony Music as senior vice president. There, he led the marketing and promotion of Michael Jackson's album Thriller, which sold over 25 million units worldwide. In 1988, Arnold started his own firm, Arnold & Associates, where he serves as the president and chief attorney.
