Summary This volume was the product of an AAPG special committee on the Pennsylvanian System of North America, to cover such phases as stratigraphic unit boundaries, geological history, and various techniques of study, including lithofacies maps. Rocks of the system are the bed rock of approximately 10% of the land area of continental United States, and yield 17% of the petroleum, most of the coal, and most of the ceramic raw material of the U.S.
