Abstract You'll Poke Your Eye Out--Common Eye Injuries on the Field presents an overview of sports-related eye injuries. Emphasizing the fact that sports-related eye injuries are a public health issue, the DVD reviews the basic anatomy of the eye and details the most common type of eye injuries that occur in athletes. The DVD also looks at triaging and treating eye injuries, including offering recommendations concerning when athletic trainers should treat vs. when they should refer such injuries. In addition, the DVD provides information on how athletic trainers can make a connection with a local optometrist. The hands-on lab portion of the DVD features instructions on inserting and removing contact lenses.
